I Ching
The Book of Changes
Live readings with an experienced consultant.

'It is a book of life containing within it an explanation of the entire laws of the universe by which everything is governed, and carries explicit directions on how man should conduct himself so as to remain continually in harmony with these laws.' - Diana ffarington Hook

The I Ching comes to us from ancient China. Its earliest history is shrouded in the mists of time where it took the form of an oracle consulted through pyromancy: cracks in fired bone and shell formed patterns which captured the essence of the moment, revealing the current state of being and the forces for change within it.

The term 'I' means 'change'; the title 'Ching', meaning 'classic', was only added after the 'I' became one of the Classics of Chinese literature along with a very few other books which survived the great book burning by the power-crazed Emperor in 213 BC.

The philosophical basis of the book of changes reflects the Chinese world-view that the universe is a cosmos of interrelationships arising from the eternal One through the movement of positive and negative energy. This is the meaning of the symbol at the top of this page.
